MERI COLLEGE ORGANISED 18TH NATIONAL IT SEMINAR ON KNOWLEDGE ENGINEERING

Management Education and Research Institute (MERI), Janakpuri, New Delhi (affiliated to
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University) and MERI College of Engineering and
Technology, Sampla jointly organised the 18th National IT Seminar on Knowledge Engineering
on February 29, 2020. The event emphasised on Knowledge Engineering along with its related
dynamics.

The programme commenced with the inaugural session graced by the Chief Guest, Shri Ajay
Kumar Gupta, Director, Indian Council of Social Science Research; Shri I.P. Aggarwal,
President, MERI Group of Institutions; Prof. Lalit Aggarwal, Vice President, MERI Group of
Institutions; Shri S.K. Aggarwal, Chief Finance Officer; Dr. S.K. Goel, Director; Prof. A.K.
Aggarwal, Dean; and other dignitaries. The session consisted of the traditional lamp lighting
session by dignitaries, National Anthem, MERI- Code of Conduct, followed by a student
presentation by on Knowledge Engineering.

The welcome address was presented by Prof. Lalit
Aggarwal, wherein he spoke about the technical, scientific and social aspects pertaining to
building, maintaining and using knowledge- based system. Furthermore, the inaugural address
was presented by Shri I.P. Aggarwal, who deliberated about the the various building blocks of
knowledge engineering. This was followed by an in-depth address by the Chief Guest for the
seminar, Shri Ajay Kumar Gupta who not only enlightened the audience about knowledge
engineering but also highlighted the functioning of ICSSR. The session concluded with a vote
of thanks by Prof. A.K. Aggarwal, with his views on the seminar and thanking all the dignitaries
for their esteemed presence.

The programme progressed with the first technical session on major approaches to ML by
Vikas Kalra, Director, gotracko.com. Further, the second technical session emphasized on
reinforcement learning by Niharika Grover, Sr. Software Engineer, Expedia, Lastly, the third
technical session focused on Bayesian Machine Learning by Anshul Kumar Gupta, Data
Scientist, Wingfly.
The programme drew its curtains down with an inter-college IT Quiz and prize and certificate
distribution ceremony. The seminar was organised by Prof. Ritu Aggarwal.
